Consequently, the Syrian Monophysite came to be called Jacobites. The Western part of the Syrian (Monophysite) Church became entirely separated from the Eastern (late Nestorian) Church. From Syria the Monophysite doctrine spread into Armenia to the North and Egypt to the South.
